About Us

We are a parent and family support group that helps families in Lanarkshire who have children with additional support needs. We provide a weekly support group with sessions operating ever Thursday during term time and Tuesday's and Thursday's in school holidays.

We give parents a chance to let off steam each week with other parents in similar situations. We include siblings in all activities which helps reduce barriers for access. We offer training, support and social activities throughout the year giving parents a lifeline when some need it most. Our area is within a great degree of poverty which is why all the children benefit from free activities throughout the year.

We have recently piloted a new cookery class which we hope to expand on in the future and we hold an annual caravan holiday to allow all the families to enjoy some time with peers and can be the only holiday some of the children get to enjoy.  Our latest expansion has seen the introduction of our out outdoor learning program including an outdoor activity weekend and weekly allotment class ran by our young members and their siblings.  We are continually updating and piloting new services so please get in touch via our contact us section to find out how we might be able to support your family.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does the group meet up?

We meet in the YMCA on Liberty road, Bellshill every Thursday between 10am and 12am.  During summer holidays we run on both Tuesdays and Thursdays with a slightly later time of 11am-1pm.  Transportation can be provided upon request.

What are the requirements to take part?

The only essential requirement is that you have a child who has or is suspected to have an additional support need.  This is not a disability specific group and we cater for children for birth to 25.  We also include siblings in all activities and outings.

Can I come if my child is at school on a Thursday?

This is a common question.  Many of our mums come alone on a Thursday as their child/children are in school.  We are not only a group for the kids but we are also a group that supports the carers so please still come along when children are in school.
